On March 16, 2023, police responded to a welfare check after concerned parents reported that their 22-year-old son was behaving erratically. Bodycam footage shows officers calmly trying to determine whether he was injured or a danger to himself as he refuses basic questions, stares them down, and slowly closes the distance.
After nearly nine minutes of warnings, the encounter turns violent when the man punches an officer in the face and is taken to the ground.
