Corona Arch
Number one on our list, Corona Arch. Formerly known as Little Rainbow Bridge, Corona Arch is naturally made from Navajo sandstone and is located right outside of Arches National Park in the Utah city, Moab. It can be accessed via a 1.5-mile hiking trail known as the Corona Arch Trail.
Corona Arch is one of the most spectacular arches in Utah and one of the Best Hikes around.
The semi-freestanding arch is 105-feet tall and 140-feet wide. People used to climb the arch and swing from the top, but since 2015 all such activities have been banned and are now illegal. Corona Arch is a truly beautiful and unique sight to behold, and shows the incredible beauty that nature is capable of.
Castle Creek Winery
At number two on our list of the best things to do in Moab, Utah, is Castle Creek Winery. This award-winning winery is located 14 miles from downtown Moab, up the Colorado River. The winery is situated overlooking the river’s incredibly stunning white water rapids, at the foot of the impressive red rock cliffs. The winery even sits on a historic working ranch called Red Cliffs Adventure Lodge. For any lover of wine, this is a unique experience you’ll remember forever.
Dead Horse Point State Park
Number three on our list is Dead Horse Point State Park. This state park features a dramatic overlook of the Colorado River and Canyonlands National Park. Although it can be regarded as small in size for a state park, Dead Horse Point brings over half a million visitors per year.
It consists of multiple picnic areas, campsites, a helpful and informative visitor centre, and don’t forget the many viewpoints located all around the park. To top it off, there are many incredible trails that are suitable for both hiking and mountain biking. With the views being some of the most photographed views in Utah, it’s understandable to have high expectations, and the magnificent sights from Dead Horse Point will not disappoint.
Moab Giants Dinosaur Park
At number four is the Moab Giants Dinosaur Park. Located in the southern region of the Dinosaur Diamond Prehistoric Highway, this museum has many exhibits all focused on the epic history of Dinosaurs. This includes the Tracks Museum, which is full of interactive learning touch screens, games to play, and visually stunning exhibits that fascinate and educate.
With a large number of fossilized footprints, left behind from ancient dinosaurs millions of years ago, you can either go on a self-guided tour or take advantage of the many guided tours available in the museum. While roaming the desert on the outdoor trail, you’ll come across over 100 life-size dinosaurs using state-of-the-art technology. In fun and exciting ways, you’ll learn all there is to know about the dinosaurs that used to roam this area.
Canyonlands National Park
Number five on our list of the best things to do in Moab, Utah, is Canyonlands National Park. This national park is over 330,000 acres of preserved colorful landscape, eroded over many decades into numerous canyons, mesas, and buttes by the Colorado River, the Green River, and their respective tributaries.
Due to the immense size of the park, it is sectioned into four different districts. This means that most people only have enough time to visit one area per visit. With its incredible beauty and inspiring scale, it’s hard not to spend multiple days here in order to explore everything this beautiful park has to offer.

Arches National Park
At number six we have Arches National Park. This park is adjacent to the Colorado River, with more than 2,000 natural sandstone arches located in the park. These arches include the well-known Delicate Arch, as well as a variety of unique geological resources and formations. The park contains the highest density of natural arches in the world.
The park has numerous hiking trails and attractions, some of the more popular include, Delicate Arch, Landscape Arch, Fiery Furnace, and many more. If you’re looking for something stunning and unique, this park offers it all.
Moab Museum of Film and Western Heritage
Moab Museum of Film and Western Heritage is number seven on our list. This museum is located within the Red Cliffs Lodge, which are both part of the Red Cliffs Ranch. This ranch was settled in the late 1800s and has been a working ranch ever since. Not only has this ranch served as a place to raise cattle and horses, it has also been a filming location for many films.
Some of the most notable films that were shot on this ranch include, Warlock, Geronimo, Rio Grande and Thelma & Louise. In the late 1940’s, the legendary filmmaker John Ford discovered the rugged beauty of Moab’s canyonlands and filmed the first of many movies at the ranch. Hollywood stars such as John Wayne, Henry Ford, James Stewart, Anthony Quinn and Rock Hudson have all worked on location at Red Cliffs Ranch.
The museum holds many things related to this ranch’s rich history as the popular filming location. This includes memorabilia and information about the filming of these popular Hollywood westerns. The self-guided museum is filled with pictures and notes that give an interesting insight of the filming experience. For any film or history buff, this is a must visit.
See Petroglyphs at Newspaper Rock
Number eight, seeing petroglyphs at Newspaper Rock. Newspaper Rock State Historic Monument features a 200-square-foot rock panel carved with one of the largest known collections of petroglyphs. Messages have been engraved in this rock for over 2000 years by Native American Indians, providing a long history of their stories.
Bike the Slickrock Trail
Biking the Slickrock Trail is number nine on our list. The Slickrock Trail is a popular mountain biking destination.This 10.5-mile trail takes riders over a landscape of petrified sand dunes and the eroded remnants of ancient sea beds. Mountain bikers rate the Slickrock Trail as one of the more difficult rides in the Moab area, both technically and cardiovascularly.
It has gained global acknowledgment as being the most popular bike trail in the world, bringing in over 100,000 visitors a year. If that’s not a reason to check it out, we don’t know what is. There is also a much shorter loop of 2.3-miles, located right next to the full trial which is recommended to beginners. This shorter loop gives visitors a way to progress into the full and much more strenuous trail while still being physically and technically challenging.
Hike to Bartlett Wash Area
Taking a hike to Bartlett Wash Area is at number ten. Bartlett Wash Trail is a popular mountain biking trail that is a 13.3 mile loop. It’s located 18 miles north of Moab. For those less interested in the exertions of mountain biking or simply enjoy taking their time, the trail can also be hiked, giving you the chance to admire the beautiful wild flowers and stunning views along the way.
Go Rafting in the Colorado River
At number eleven is rafting the Colorado River. The Colorado River spans almost 1500-miles from northern Colorado and goes through Utah, Arizona, California and across the Mexican border. Rafting in the river is a highly popular activity, and Moab is one of the best places to do it. In the most famous stretch of the Colorado River, you’ll wind around beautiful canyons and river bends that are so stunning, they’ve been the locations of many Hollywood movies.
