Visit the Beach
It is almost impossible to come to Miami without visiting a beach at least once. The city is known for its array of beaches and its tropical lifestyle; not only are there so many beaches but there are also lots of beach parties!
Of all the beaches in Miami, south beach stands out as one of the best in the city and a tourist favorite. With crystal clear turquoise water, gorgeous clean white sand, a large lifeguard stand, clean showers on the walk, jet ski rides, jet ski tours, and boat rides, south beach has it all.
A visit to Miami is not complete without spending some time on one of its lovely beaches.
The FTX Arena
Previously known as the American Airlines Arena, the FTX arena is a multipurpose sports and entertainment arena. This building is one of the nation’s top sports and entertainment facilities and is home to the 2006, 2012, and 2013 NBA champs, The Miami Heat.
The FTX Arena has 2,105 club seats, 80 luxury suites, and 76 private boxes. The Waterfront Theater is Florida’s most prominent theater, which is housed within the arena, that can seat between 3,000 and 5,800.
The FTX arena is a 20,000 seat multipurpose sports and entertainment arena.
The arena has been known to host concerts and is usually a popular stop during the tours of famous artists. It’s hosted renowned musical stars such as Shakira, Chris Brown, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, and Celine Dion. If you’re lucky, perhaps you can witness one of these giants of the entertainment world whenever you visit.
The fact that the arena is also home to the NBA’s Miami Heat is a massive plus for you if you are a basketball fan. If you manage to score tickets, you can witness a live professional basketball match.
Jump on the Metromover
If you are looking for a free and convenient sightseeing ride throughout the City of Miami, hop on the Metromover. This elevated bus system takes you on one of several routes of your choice through the Downtown area. The rides are completely automated, without any driver, and you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of the day to day Miami life. It’s a great alternative to walking- taking you through various “loops” around town.
The Miami Metromover is very convenient and excellent for tourists to get lovely views of downtown. The Metromover shows you the center of the city, saves you from the city’s traffic, and best of all, it is free! There’s no reason not to give it a try.
Explore the Vizcaya Museum and Garden
The Vizcaya Garden and Museum is one of the most beautiful sites to visit in Miami, with multiple attractions like the Gardens, fountains, the labyrinth, statues, and even the stairwell! You can also go into the 38,000 ft mansion and its many rooms, all fitted with vintage furniture and decor.
One interesting thing about this location is how the Vizcaya Museum and Garden is surrounded by European-style gardens and fountains similar to palaces in Italy and France. This tourist site is inspired by the Italian renaissance period’s perfect blend of class and nature. If you’re interested in getting a feel of European architecture without necessarily visiting Europe, then the Vizcaya museum and garden is the perfect spot for you.
It is studded with all kinds of decorative sculpture — and makes for one of the most magnificent sunset photo ops in Miami. It’s great for sightseeing or a family vacation and ranks high on our list of things to do in Miami.
Party at Miami Nightclubs
Miami is extremely popular for its nightlife and its numerous clubs. It is without a doubt a great place to party and dance the night away. You can visit the LIV nightclub, one of the most exclusive nightclubs in Miami, which has been called one of the best places to meet a celebrity in town. LIV is Miami’s most famous club, and for a good reason. LIV holds special weekly events and live performances by famous DJs like Tiësto, Steve Aoki, and Calvin Harris. If you’re looking to dress up and shell out a few bucks on drinks, then the LIV Miami nightclub is perfect for you.
Miami is also home to the beautiful nightclub known as The Basement. The Basement is incredibly trendy for its array of options; while it is a nightclub, it is not limited to partying alone. At the Basement, your options are all over the place. Want to go to bowling with attractive neon lights? Go ahead. Or do you prefer indoor ice skating on an charming rink? That’s also an option. And dancing? Of course. It’s the perfect trio that’s made even better by a rotating list of DJs
There are also several other nightclubs like the story, club space, twist, Rockwell, and Floyd. The city comes alive each night, and there’s absolutely no shortage of clubs to attend for a good time.
Tour the Bayside Marketplace
Bayside Marketplace is a two-story open-air shopping center located in downtown Miami, Florida. Bayside Market-place is famous for shopping by day & its live entertainment and restaurants come to life at night.
Bayside offers an unparreled entertainment experience with live music daily, restaurants, bars, family events, and the picturesque settings of waterfront property. As opposed to most malls, there’s more focus on entertainment and bars than simply shopping, so it’s more of a nightlife attraction.
One of the awesome things about the Bayside Marketplace is the large number of shops and stores to choose from. There are more than 120 stores and services across its two floors, in addition to several carts and kiosks. You’ll definitely feel spoiled with choices.
The marketplace is also made up of boutiques, restaurants, tour ticket booths, and a giant Ferris wheel at the back. An open park with large trees and the nearby harbor gives it a scenic vibe.
Bayside Marketplace is also a great spot to wander around and get something to eat in one of its restaurants or enjoy concerts in the evenings. On select days, you may even be lucky enough to catch fireworks and laser shows! Bayside Marketplace is one of the city’s liveliest and most popular spots. Sightsee at the Zoo Miami
The Miami-Dade Zoological Park and Gardens, also known as Zoo Miami, is the largest Zoo in Florida spanning about 750 acres. The Zoo is the only tropical zoo in the continental United States. Zoo Miami is home to over 3,000 animals constituting about 500 different species, of which about 40 are categorized as endangered.
The Zoo is divided into world sections like Africa, Australia, Asia, with animals placed according to the geographical area. If you are a nature enthusiast, this brings the animals to you without all of those pesky Mosquitoes and Pythons! The sections and animals are strategically placed throughout the park.
The Zoo is also perfect for kids as it includes a playground and a splash area as a side attraction.
Apart from the animals, the Zoo also has different kinds of trees and plants, giving you that soothing tropical feeling.
Feast your eyes on the Wynwood walls
The Wynwood Walls were set up in 2009 by the visionary Tony Goldman as an outdoor museum of international street art. It has since become a world-renowned open-air “museum of the streets” and continues to attract visitors worldwide and currently includes more than 40 stunning, cutting-edge murals created by renowned street artists from Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the US.
The Wynwood Walls have brought the world’s greatest artists working in the graffiti and street art genre to Miami.
Wynwood Walls have become a phenomenon, leading to the creation of murals throughout the Wynwood district. It is now one of the premier venues in the world to see the work of leading street artists. It has a great vibe and is also considered a great chance to see local art.
Asides from the Walls, you can also find the Wynwood Doors, featuring around 176ft of roll-up storefront gates adorned in strokes and splashes of color in a similar fashion. The area’s main open green space serves as the centerpiece, featuring successive artworks from different international artists each year.
Wynwood Walls is the perfect spot to spend time with loved ones or just by yourself! When you visit Wynwood Walls, you’ll get a taste of Miami’s diverse art world. Adorned in everything from life-sized murals of the Dalai Lama to graffiti quotes to abstract paintings and out-of-this-world sculptures, Wynwood Walls is as unique as it is creative.
Survey the Philip and Patricia Frost Museum of science
Are you a fan of science and history? Then there is no better place to visit and unleash the nerd in you than the Philip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Miami. The Patricia & Phillip Frost Museum of Science covers 250,000 square feet and is divided into four buildings: a Planetarium, an Aquarium, and two separate wings for the Science Museum.
The Aquarium is quite spectacular with a unique multi-story design that is fun and beautiful. You can check out three different building levels and a “river” featuring local plants and birds. It has a great mix of live animal exhibits and anthropological and natural history objects from its collection.
The museum’s exhibitions span six levels inside a North and West Wing with a telescope for stargazing and an urban garden. The museum’s permanent collections are dedicated to South Florida’s biodiversity, the physics of light, aviation, the human mind and body, and more. Guests can explore the worlds of science, technology, engineering, and math in a calm setting with interactive exhibitions and unique shows.
The dome screen simulates a nearly 360-degree view of the cosmos, flooding your field of vision with space matter which will leave you feeling like you are traversing through space at the time.
The multipurpose nature of this place makes it more appealing as you can visit a planetarium, an aquarium, and a museum all at once.
