There are a myriad of reasons to fall in love with the British Virgin Islands. For one thing, they’re unlike the other Caribbean Islands since they aren’t nearly as crowded or commercialized. They’re also one of the perfect places to go to relax and unwind, thanks to the gorgeous beaches and the fabulous range of leisure activities to take part in.

Sink Your Teeth Into Tortola’s Street Food
Out of all of the islands that make up the British Virgin Islands, Tortola is the one that is the most bustling. While there are plenty of dine-in options to check out on the island, we highly recommend picking up some authentic Caribbean street food, such as roti and salt fish or jerk prawns, at one of the many street vendors that are always grilling up delicious delicacies made to order. Not only is Tortola’s street food exceptionally affordable, it’s also every bit as scrumptious as anything you’ll find sitting at a table in a higher-end establishment.
Charter A Boat Tour
Obviously, if you’re planning a visit to the British Virgin Islands, you’ll no doubt be itching to spend a little time out on the water. You, fortunately, don’t have to own your own seafaring vessel in order to enjoy the sea scene on the islands. If you’re traveling as a part of a group, you might want to consider chartering a boat to explore the region to your heart’s content. You can also book a yacht tour if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous.
Spend The Evening In Anegada
It takes about an hour to get to the isle of Anegada via ferry. The area feels strikingly rural, and come nightfall, the stars shine brighter than anywhere else in the Islands. If you’re a stargazer, this is one opportunity that you won’t want to miss out on. The pristine beaches are bursting with wildlife, and the waterfront cabin rentals available are the perfect places to spend a night.
Visit The Gorda Baths
From a distance, you might mistake this place for a pile of random rocks. But once you actually come up on them, you’ll realize that this pile of boulders sitting on the beach is actually pretty remarkable. There are caves to explore with wooden ladders and rope guides to keep you safe that eventually lead you to a place called Devil’s Bay. This quaint, peaceful place is fairly close to the baths, so there’s no reason why you shouldn’t add it to your itinerary

Go Kite Surfing
There is nothing quite like the thrill of soaring across the water while letting the sheer power of the wind be your guide. Conditions in the British Virgin Islands are perfect for kite surfing. Intro courses are offered for inexperienced kite surfers and once a year, the kite and paddle festival brings in thousands of enthusiasts from all over the world to come together and celebrate their beloved watersport.
Try Some Fresh Conch Meat
Practically everyone is familiar with the conch. The marine animal’s shell is used for all sorts of things, but it’s meat is also one of the best-known foods in the British Virgin islands. It’s typically eaten fried, in salads, or as ceviche.

Visit The Spectacular White Bay
If you’re in search of a nice relaxing place to enjoy an ice-cold tropical cocktail, then look no further than White Bay on Jost Van Dyke island! Here you can find adult beverages featuring local flavors that will knock your socks off.
Our favorite has to be ‘The Painkiller’. This fruity beverage combines pineapple juice, coconut water, and orange juice, along with a couple shots of dark rum. To top it off, the drink is sprinkled lightly with a dash of nutmeg in order to give it it’s signature kick. For travelers with younger companions, virgin daiquiris and mocktails are also available.
Hike At Sage Mountain National Park
This spot in Tortola is hard to miss. At 1,716 feet above sea level, this park is a favorite for those that enjoy activities like hiking, mountain biking, climbing, and even snorkeling. The majority of the park is untouched rainforest, which makes for breathtaking views of the surrounding islands. In our opinion, a visit to Sage Mountain National Park is the perfect way to round out your beach vacation.
Take A Dip At The Bubbly Pool
Located on Jost Van Dyke Island, this rock and boulder formation flows into a sizable rockpool. The end result is something akin to a natural jacuzzi. The beach is also an excellent little haven to unwind and relax, and the scenic hike leading up to the bubbly pool is downright blissful.
Take A Stroll Through Road Town
Road town is the bustling and lively capital city of the British Virgin Islands. This town was originally built on reclaimed land to serve as a shipping harbor. Fishing is another one of the biggest Road Town industries.
Tourists are free to visit a variety of historic attractions such as the town’s post office, the now-defunct HM prison, and Main Street – where numerous shops, boutiques, restaurants, cafes, and bars can be found.
One of the biggest draws to the British Virgin Islands is that they are some of the least developed Caribbean islands. That, of course, means that they are ideal for travelers that are hoping to experience local culture without all of the hubbub and touristy expansion that plagues the other islands in the Caribbean. Beyond that, the British Virgin Islands are also a veritable paradise for sailing enthusiasts.
Road Town has the widest selection of restaurants on the islands. Practically anything that you’ve got a hankering for can be found around town.
