Best Nude Beaches in the World

Nude sunbathing isn’t for everyone. It can be daunting for most of us to be seen even in our bathing suits, let alone our birthday suits. And yet there are few things as exhilarating as going fully naked in a public place. Of course, we aren’t promoting any illegal nudity. Let’s have some decorum, people! What we ARE advocating is checking out a nude beach. Cause you can let your body get free of all that pesky clothing, and they won’t drag you off to jail for indecent exposure. If you’re curious about the best nude beaches in the world – either because you are dying to get some sun on your nether bits, or because you’ve always been a little curious – then you’re in the right place. In this video, we’re covering, or rather, uncovering, the best of the best when it comes to beaches around the globe where you can be a little more free than you are in the rest of your clothed existence. So stick around, as Viewcation presents: The Best Nude Beaches in the World!

Red Beach, Crete, Greece

If you find yourself on the island of Crete, you’re in for a vacation full of fun in the sun. Crete is an incredible place to visit. You’ll get to see incredible attractions ranging from The Palace of Knossos, which is an ancient Minoan structure, to Old Town Rethymno, which is an area constructed in the 11th century. And, perhaps most importantly, it has incredible beaches. If you’re looking for the nude variety, look no further than Red Beach. It has rust-hued sand, which is where it gets its name. But it also might be your skin color if you don’t slap on a bunch of sunscreen when visiting – just saying. It’s a little tricky to get to, but worth it once you do. You’ll start out in Matala, a nearby village, and do a short hike from there. The hike isn’t the hardest in the world, but it’s also not a cakewalk. So make sure you bring some sturdy shoes for the walk. You’ll soon arrive at Red Beach, which is a fairly untouched and natural looking beach. Other than a tiny snack stand, it looks how it likely did centuries ago. The turquoise water will beckon you, and we highly recommend taking a dip after your hike. Once you’re settled on the sand, you’ll be free to disrobe and let it all hang loose. Just be warned – the sand is a little less fine than some other beaches in this video. It’ll probably be quite uncomfortable on your bare skin. So be sure to bring towels and blankets if you’re planning to spend some time in the sand!

Patara Beach – Patara, Turkey

The Turkish Riviera sits in the southwest of Turkey, and is often called the Turquoise Coast. It boasts more than 600 miles of coastline that attract visitors from around the world. And for good reason. The lovely climate, warm water temperature, and gorgeous beaches would make a fine stop for any vacation. It also boasts a famous cruise called the Blue Voyage, where you can hop aboard for a week’s journey and stop at the many beaches, harbors, and cities along the Riviera. Of course, if you’re looking for a place to do some nude sunbathing in the Turquoise Coast, then Patara is the place to go. It’s actually the longest beach on the coastline. Plus it’s incredibly well kept, so you’ll get sand as soft as velvet, and water you can see right into. It’s a perfect backdrop for some naked sunbathing, and you’ll also likely see some pretty cool wildlife in the area while you’re there. One highlight is that sea turtles nest there, so you might see some of them in their natural habitat. Another popular activity is to watch the incredible sunset at Patara. So if you are planning to sunbathe during the day, you might want to bring enough supplies to last until the evening. Just bring extra layers as the sun goes down, cause the temperature will drop!

Plage de Tahiti – St. Tropez, France

When you think of exotic beaches that you’d love to one day see, then the name St. Tropez likely comes to mind. Located in the picturesque south of France, St. Tropez is the epitome of incredible beach experiences. The beaches themselves are actually located slightly south of St. Tropez proper, on the shores of Baie de Pampelonne. It’s an assortment of smaller beaches (each only about 30 meters wide) that all come with a hut and a public and private sunbathing area. The area is known to be ideal for watersports like sailing, windsurfing and more, as well as jet skiing, motorboats, and the like. And yes, many of the beaches here are restricted and available only to the rich and/or famous. But not all of them! Perhaps more importantly, Tahiti Beach is accessible to the public. It’s a spot that was actually made famous from the Bridget Bardot movie, And God Created Woman. It was originally designated a clothing optional beach, but at one point the local mayor made that illegal. He even had police choppers hover over the beach to enforce the law. Not exactly a way to enhance people’s sense of relaxation at the beach. A battle between those hoping to make it nude again and those who wanted it to be a clothed beach then began. It was even portrayed in a series of French films called The Troops of St. Tropez.) Eventually the nude camp won out. Tahiti beach is once again a clothing optional spot. More fervent nudists might opt for one of the private nude beaches in the area, but the casual fan can head to Tahiti beach for some naked fun in the sun.

Vecaki Beach – Riga, Latvia

You might not equate Latvia with being the ultimate beach destination, but that’s probably because you’ve never been to the Latvian coastline. It’s a gorgeous region of more than 300 miles of beaches. Which is impressive, considering the country’s overall tiny size. Riga is the capital of Latvia, and it looks out over the Baltic Sea. It’s a cultural hub of the region, and a popular city to visit for its incredible culture, history, museums, and more. It has a medieval old town which is a pedestrian-only area and boasts a ton of great shops and restaurants. And then, of course, it has wonderful beaches. And if you’re in search of the nude variety, look no further than Vecaki Beach. It sits slightly north of downtown Riga, and is a very popular place for locals and tourists alike, looking to be a little more free with their bodies while tanning and enjoying some time in the sand. One thing that sets this beach apart is that it’s actually a popular spot for locals to play volleyball. And yes, they often do it in the nude. And no, we won’t make a joke about balls in the sand, because we’re better than that.

Praia do Pinho – Balneário Camboriú, Brazil

There was a point when the city of Florianopolis was ranked as the ‘happiest city’ on the planet. That ranking may have shifted over the years, but it doesn’t mean it’s not still an incredibly fun and happy place to visit. And if you find yourself in this part of Brazil and you’re looking for a nude beach, check out Praia do Pinho. It was the first clothing optional beach in the country, so it has a long history of nude sunbathing. What’s cool about Praia do Pinho is that there are cabins for rent, so you can actually make it a multi-day trip of nude bathing. But be warned, the nudity is NOT optional here. You literally aren’t allowed to wear clothing. So it’s not for the faint of heart, or the timid. But what better place to let your inhibitions go and bop around, naked as a jaybird? Another minor hitch is that they don’t allow solo males do be on the beach. We’re assuming it’s to keep the pervy types from ogling the rest of the people there. The one exception is unaccompanied males who are part of the “International Naturist Federation” but to be honest, we’re not exactly sure how you qualify for that. So you’ll need to do some Googling if you’re interested. But provided you are female, or have a female companion with you, you’ll be able to let loose in this fun and gorgeous area of Brazil!

Black’s Beach – San Diego, California

Finally, let’s take a look at perhaps the best American nude beach – Black’s Beach in San Diego. This beach overlooks the Pacific and is slightly north of the city, just outside Torrey Pines. Of course, since it’s near San Diego, it tends to be filled with classic characters from the California beaches that you might see in the movies. Not that that’s a bad thing. They are generally a chill bunch who will likely make you feel more at home and you pop off your bathing suit. If you’re looking to surf in the nude, this is a fantastic place to do it. But you can also simply enjoy some nude beach time in a picturesque setting. Just be forewarned that the Pacific, even this far south, tends to be a little chilly. So bring a towel to warm up quickly after you get out. Also, nudity is ONLY allowed on the state-owned section of Black’s Beach. Anywhere else and you could be arrested for indecent exposure.

Going to a nude beach can be intimidating and scary, but it can also be incredibly freeing. You get to break free of societal rules, even for just a few hours. And they are generally a judgement free zone, because people of all shapes and sizes enjoy the nude fun in the sun. So if you’re considering visiting a nude beach, hopefully you got some good ideas with this video!
