Taking a cruise out to the Caribbean can be a great idea for a vacation, but there are so many different cruiselines to choose from that it can be a little bit confusing sorting through them all. In this video, we’ll be taking a look at the unique things that each of the major cruiselines heading to the Caribbean offer. From Silversea Cruises to Seabourn Cruise Line, join ViewCation as we share our opinions regarding the very best Caribbean cruises for 2022.
Silversea Cruises
Silversea Cruises is a respectable cruise line with ships heading out to the Caribbean all the time. In fact, Silversea Cruises just recently launched a brand new ship by the name of the Silver Dawn. The Silver Dawn has a decidedly modest capacity of only around 600 guests at once, which means that it offers a comparatively intimate experience when put up against the average cruise ship.
Despite only having room for around 600 passengers, the Silver Dawn has eight separate dining venues on board that should make cruising on the ship an unmatched culinary experience for guests. Perhaps the most interesting of these various dining venues is SALT. The restaurant’s name is an acronym, with SALT standing for “the Sea and Land Taste programme”. The point of the restaurant is to offer guests the chance to experience authentic cuisine from the various ports that the ship stops at, providing different experiences on each cruise!
There are many different ports that riding Silversea Cruises’ Silver Dawn will take you to, with some of the more notable destinations including St. Lucia and Grenada. There’s a great many things to do once your ship arrives in St. Lucia, with some of the most popular activities in the area for cruise attendees being safaris of the surrounding area by jeep and chocolate-making workshops that are held at nearby Hotel Chocolat.
Royal Caribbean Cruises
Royal Caribbean Cruises is another notable cruise line offering plentiful great trips to the Caribbean. Given that the cruise line is focused specifically on the Caribbean, you’ll be able to take some cruises with the cruise line that will take you to some very unique corners of the region.
As compared to cruising with the aforementioned Silversea Cruises on it’s relatively small Silver Dawn, cruising with Royal Caribbean Cruises can be a bit more of an ordeal. The cruise line recently launched a ship by the name of the Wonder of the Seas that can hold well over 5,000 passengers. It has come to be known as the largest cruise ship in the entire world.
Royal Caribbean Cruises being a bigger cruise line gives it some advantages, including the fact that it has it’s very own private island in the Bahamas. The private island is known as CocoCay, and it’s technically a collection of several small islands, not just a single island. However, you’ll be having too much fun to argue with vernacular. While the cruise itself is plenty of fun, attendees will have a blast once they get to CocoCay. CocoCay features plenty of awesome attractions, including Thrill Waterpark.
Virgin Voyages
While both of the aforementioned cruise lines offer great cruise options for families, Virgin Voyages offers some great cruises for those living the single life! Virgin Voyages is one of the newer cruise lines to rise to prominence, and it offers some decidedly unique thrills in comparison to the majority of it’s competitors. Some of the many things that make trips with Virgin Voyages unique include the ability to watch burlesque shows and get tattoos out on the ocean. There are also plenty of interesting places to eat when riding with Virgin Voyages, including vegan options. Cruises with Virgin Voyages make their way towards Bimini, where cruise attendees can keep the party going on land at Virgin Voyages’ own private Beach Club.
Disney Cruise Line
Disney Cruise Line is perched in direct opposition to Virgin Voyages. Not only has Disney Cruise Line been around for many, many years, but it is also the ideal cruise line for families, especially those with young children. Disney cruise ships feature the same level of attention to detail that the brand’s many theme parks do, only out on the ocean! The cruise line recently launched a brand new ship by the name of Disney Wish, which has become the fifth ship in Disney Cruse Line’s ever-expanding fleet. The ship features it’s own water park. The joy of bringing your family on a Disney cruise ship can’t be understated.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises
Regent Seven Seas Cruises is a luxury cruise line that features some decidedly interesting shore excursions for it’s guests to choose from. Some of the many interesting shore excursions available to guests riding with Regent Seven Seas Cruises include the chance to take a sky ride above the Dutch island of Sint Maarten. Another interesting shore excursion sees a chairlift bring guests up to a lookout point by the name of Crow’s Nest, which is perched upon a hill on the island of Sint Maarten known as Sentry Hill.
Besides the variety of awesome shore excursions offered to guests riding with Regent Seven Seas Cruises, they’ll also get the chance to take cooking classes with a renowned Antiguan chef by the name of Nicole Arthurton Dennis. The main draw of the cruise line is that it takes it’s guests to islands in the Caribbean that aren’t quite as well known, with the aforementioned Sint Maarten being one example.
Holland America Line
Holland America Line is another great cruise line offering cruises out to the Caribbean. The majority of cruises from the line are around a week long, but there are also shorter cruises for newbies and longer cruises for those that don’t mind being out on the ocean for extended periods of time. Holland Cruise Lines is another one of those big cruise lines that has it’s very own private island that’s located within the Bahamas. This island goes by the name of Little San Salvador Island, though most call it Half Moon Cay. Once they’ve arrived at Half Moon Cay, guests riding with Holland America Lines will get the chance to try their hand at surfing, and there’s plenty of hiking and bicycling. Cruises will also take guests to the island of Aruba, which is considered one of the preeminent diving destinations in the world. If you’ve never dived before, taking a lesson in Aruba is one of the absolute best places to start!
Star Clippers
Star Clippers is an incredibly unique cruise line in that it’s ships are made up to look like the kind of old-timey sailing ships that pirates used. While Stars Clippers’ ships are certainly motorized, the cruise line makes a point of trying to use the many functioning sails on it’s ships as much as it possibly can. When you ride with Star Clippers, as much of your cruise will be powered by the wind as possible. In addition to being practical, the many functioning sails featured on Stars Clippers’ ships are also a gorgeous sight unto themselves. If you’re looking for a unique experience on the ocean, taking a cruise with Star Clippers certainly offers it. However, there’s much more to the cruise line than just the unique look of it’s ships.
The interior of Stars Clippers’ ships are decorated in relatively the same fashion as their outsides, but guests can still expect the same type of modern amenities that are available on traditional cruise ships. One of Star Clippers’ preeminent destinations is St. Lucia, where guests will get the chance to check out the Pitons. For those that don’t know, the Pitons are the name of a pair of mountainous, volcanic spires that rise up out of the sea.
Carnival Cruise Line
Besides Disney Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Line is another great family-friendly option for travellers trying to figure out which cruise line would be the best choice for them. Cruises with Carnival Cruise Line sail out all year round and head to all different areas of the Caribbean.
Carnival Cruise Line’s newest ship goes by the name of Mardi Gras, and it made history by becoming the first-ever cruise ship to feature it’s very own rollercoaster on board. If you’d like to get the opportunity to experience riding a rollercoaster at the same time that you’re out cruising on the waters of the ocean, this is going to be your chance!
Princess Cruises
Princess Cruises is another one of those big cruise lines that has it’s own private beach resort. However, as compared to some of the aforementioned cruise lines, Princess Cruises’ private resort doesn’t take up a whole island. Instead, Princess Cruises’ private destination resides on the southernmost tip of the island of Eluethera. Still, this little resort destination is nothing to balk at! Known as Princess Cays, this resort spans 40 acres and allows Princess Cruises’ guests to try their hand at various watersports and sleep in their own private bungalow. There are a variety of different trips available to prospective cruise-goers, with some of Princess Cruises’ many different cruises lasting as long as three weeks!
Seabourn Cruise Line
Finally, let’s take a look at Seabourn Cruise Line, which is another small cruise line that makes a point of taking it’s guests to the more obscure islands of the Caribbean. Some of Seabourn Cruise Line’s ships have capacities as low as just under 300 guests, which means that travellers will get a shockingly intimate cruise experience. The biggest of the cruise line’s ships can only hold 600 passengers. The relatively small sizes of Seabourn Cruise Line’s various cruise ships is certainly an advantage for those guests who want to explore the lesser-known waters of the Caribbean that bigger cruise ships can’t access.
Regardless of what kind of experience you’re looking to have on your cruise, hopefully you managed to get some good ideas about which cruise line featured in this video will be right for your needs! Now it’s time to hear from you: did you know that Royal Caribbean Cruises recently launched a new ship by the name of the Wonder of the Seas that has come to be known as the biggest cruise ship ever, and that there’s a cruise line by the name of Star Clippers that allows travellers to feel as if they’re on an old-timey pirate ship?
